Valentino Rossi put himself on top of the timesheets in the first practice session at the Le Mans MotoGP today, closely followed by Casey Stoner, and then Jorge Lorenzo.
Alvaro Bautista made it out on track, despite breaking his collar-bone in a training incident a few weeks ago – Bautista was riding without painkillers and the injury clearly had an effect; he finished the session in last place about 3 seconds off the pace of the leaders, and almost a second off the pace from Aoyama who ended the session in 16th position.
After a forgettable start to the 2010 MotoGP season, Aleix Espargaró showed considerable improvement by setting the 9th fastest time on his Pramac Ducati.
