Jorge Martinez to meet Aprilia

Aspar team boss Jorge Martinez is to hold talks with Aprilia after the Italian manufacturer decided not to enter the new Moto2 category.

Martinez had planned to use Aprilia’s bikes for his team in the category, having used them in 125cc and 250cc world championships.

He told the MotoGP website: “It came as a surprise to me. We will travel to Italy to meet Aprilia’s leaders.”

Di Meglio to 250cc for 2009

This year’s 125cc World champion is not sticking around to defend hi title, Mike Di Meglio has joined Aprilia to compete in the 250cc series for 2009 (with an option to extend, depending on performance). Di Meglio will join hi team-mate Alvaro Bautista at Team Aspar Martinez.

Shinya Nakano to WSBK in 2009

Shinya Nakano has reveled his plans for 2009 after losing his ride at Honda Gresini and watching his opportunity to ride for a third Kawasaki in MotoGP go up in a puff of green smoke. He will now join Max Biaggi riding an Aprilia RSV4 in World Superbikes.

“I am happy indeed, for me it is a joy to belong to the Aprilia family. Here I have found a big tradition and extraordinary competence in the races that Aprilia faces with high professionalism, and the 33 world titles won up to today are confirmation of this.
