Just before jetting off to the annual five-day Wrooom Press Ski Meeting at the Madonna di Campiglio resort, Valentino Rossi found time to stop at Belfast to open his new shoe shop.

Not really, this picture was tweeted by @Mick_GFX and we’d though we’d share it, as it is a world away from the exclusive 5 star ski-resort that Rossi and the rest of the Ducati team are currently in.

Unsurprisingly, the MotoGP riders are all sporting some sort of tribute to Marco Simoncelli this weekend. Most of them have a number 58 somewhere on their leathers or livery, and Valentino Rossi will be wearing a special Simoncelli tribute helmet for Saturday and Sunday.

Below are some of the photos from Valencia showing how some of the riders are opting to show their respect for Marco Simoncelli.

In his final MotoGP race before retirement, Capirossi has opted for the number 58 on the front of his Pramac Ducati:

Alvaro Bautista has a large 58 and a black riddon on the top of his helmet as a tribute to his old 250cc sparring partner.

Valentino Rossi has a number 58 sticker inside his number 46.

Nicky Hayden tweeted this photo of the Simoncelli sticker that he currently has on his Ducati:

As ever, Valentino Rossi has come out to race at Misano with a new custom helmet design.

Past years have seen Rossi wear the Donkey Helmet and the Clock / Wake Up helmet – this year, Valentino Rossi has gone with a speech bubble coming from the inside of his visor that is full of swear words and exclamations.

Given the issues that Rossi has been having with the Ducati, the message is pretty clear.

Valentino Rossi signed off from Yamaha at Valencia by re-enacting the kiss he gave to his Yamaha after his first win with the team at Welkom 7 years ago.

Lords cricket ground was the unlikely host for a pre-British MotoGP press conference that featured Jorge Lorenzo, Nicky Hayden, Scott Redding, Bradley Smith, and Danny Webb.

The riders spoke about this weekend’s British GP at Silverstone before going out to have some photos taken of them ‘playing’ cricket and drinking tea…….just to reinforce some English stereotypes.
